Our laboratories are capable of conducting the water jacket test also known as "Permanent Volumetric Expansion"
(PVE) to gather specific expansion data. Each laboratory is equipped with an array of jacket sizes sufficient
to test small cartridge type devices and large industrial gas cylinders. Pump capacities can accommodate pressures
up to 60 ksi with intermittent pressures to 70 ksi. Accuracy of our testing results is assured by the use of calibrated
cylinders of various sizes and pressures. This wide assortment insures our ability to accurately match the calibration
to the work submitted.
In addition to the PVE test, we are equipped to perform hydrostatic proof testing to verify the integrity of the unit or
design. The non-water jacket test can be performed as ambient, elevated or reduced temperature, static or dynamic,
depending on the customer's specific requirements.
Hydrostatic tests are performed in accordance with the requirements of the applicable government regulations and the Compressed
Gas Association, Inc. (CGA) pamphlet C-1.
The accuracy of our scales and temperature controls allow us to perform direct expansion tests on large gas containers at our North
Carolina facility. Analog and digital pressure gauges are verified by our in house gauge laboratory which is equipped with dead weight
testing apparatus traceable to the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) or the American National Standards
Institute (ANSI).
Our new state of the art data acquisition system allows our technicians to perform a multi-function test, gathering not only PVE
data but also three position thermo sensing, pressure and strain measurement plotted in a three dimensional image over real time.
