Two types of fire tests are permitted according to the requirements of the Department of Transportation, Transport Canada
and Health and Safety Executive. The oldest of these test methods is the Bonfire test. In an effort to secure more data and
control of the natural elements, the Chimney Flue test was developed. Recently, the use of the Bonfire test has experienced
resurgence by the industry as it allows direct flame impingement on the specimen. The selection of test type, when not specified
by regulation is determined by the appropriateness of the test for the specific type of cylinder/valve/pressure relief device
system being evaluated.
Whichever method is selected as being most suitable, Arrowhead conducts the test at our North Carolina laboratory test site
in a manner outlined in CGA pamphlet C-14. Due to the volatility of the test and the potential for catastrophic results, all
fire tests are performed at our remote test site.
Results of the system(s) tested are reported to the client with documentation verifying such variables as time, temperature,
duration of test, and ambient weather conditions.
